Upper Hand Video Poker?

Can anyone provide me with info or opinions on the Upper Hand Video Poker, which gives the player an extra five card hand (no draw) after the first hand is complete?

With 10 coins, it pays 2,500 coins for a RF rather than 2000.

I play it all the time at my local racino. It is made by a company called Speido...probably an offshore company. I haven't drawn a connection between the lower (played hand) and the unplayed hand, but I know one exists.
Example: if you try to fill a flush on the lower hand and fail, the machine will sometimes give it to you on the upper.
