Poker players are famous now, and they're all over the news. Blackjack players are even starting to enjoy some notoriety over at GSN. What I want to know is when will video poker take off as a phenomenon?
I want people standing behind me when I play, providing a running commentary, and applauding me when I make a particularly difficult distinction between choices when I play my perfect video poker strategy. |

Video poker still doesn't get the respect it deserves. Maybe too many people still confuse the vids with the slots. Or maybe it's that video poker is less social than blackjack and poker.
It seems like video poker tournaments are becoming more common. It's only a matter of time before these start being shown on television. Hopefully, the popularity of t.v. poker will create a coattail effect for the other casino games. |

The idea of a hushed crowd gathered around a video poker machine seems a little odd, but I guess stranger things have happened. I'm still in shock at the success of Texas Hold'em.
Lewis, perhaps you can become the Phil Hellmuth, Jr. of the Video Poker world. There's got to be room for a "Video Poker Brat."

That's all it needs. Poker has Phil Hellmuth Jr. Bowling has Pete Weber. Tennis had John McEnroe. An up-and-coming sport needs a bad guy. People love to hate villains more than they love to love heroes.
