Ameristar Casinos Inc. said it agreed to acquire Resorts East Chicago, located in East Chicago, Indiana, for $675 million in cash to enter the gaming market in the Chicago area.

The acquisition is expected to slightly decrease earnings in the first year and start adding to earnings by the second year, the casino operator said.
